Master Plan

Brookside Gardens’ Master Plan was created to provide a vision for tomorrow that will allow us to meet our present needs and address the challenges of the future.  The plan will result in enhancement and use of all areas of our 50-acre site to meet our mission.  This encompasses:

  • gardens and horticultural collections
  • visitor services and amenities
  • infrastructure to support these

Phase I and II of the plan are complete!  The new entrance at 1800 Glenallan Avenue and the new parking garden opened in April 2016, featuring a number of green elements (pervious paving, smart slope, microbioretention areas), lovely new art pieces, and thousands of new plants.  Much of the project was funded by our generous donors!

Phase IV, Gude Garden Restoration, has been partially completed with the renovation of the ponds and wiers surrounding the Japanese Tea House.  However, there is more that needs to be done in this beautiful, but aging, space.

Phase V, Propagation and Service Area A, A new production greenhouse was constructed in the service area of Brookside Gardens.  This project was completed completed in Spring of 2018.
